Caribou is seeking an entry level Research Associate to join its Preclinical Pharmacology team at its facilities in Berkeley and Emeryville, CA. This position will combine in vitro cell culture work along with extensive training and research with laboratory animals.  The ideal candidate enlists confidence, comfort, and a working knowledge of cell culture with demonstrated experience of laboratory animals and basic animal handling techniques. The candidate must be motivated, enthusiastic, professional, and committed to working as a team player. The ideal candidate will interact closely with functional group leaders, scientists, and research associates to drive discovery and development of new therapeutics in pre-clinical development.


This is an excellent opportunity to utilize and refine a candidate’s in vitro cell culturing skills while also advancing animal skills at a state-of-the-art clinical stage biotech company.


Candidate must possess:


  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or relevant experience
  • Broad experience in primary and mammalian cell culture and mammalian techniques
  • Demonstrated experience working with rodents in a research laboratory
  • Experience with various dosing techniques, blood collection, and necropsy preferred
  • Ability to read, record, and communicate information verbally and in writing
  • Willingness and ability to share occasional weekend/holiday cell culture and animal care duties
  • Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred
