The Company is seeking a Director/Sr. Director/VP of Stem Cell Therapeutics (SCT) who will direct, plan, and guide the research of the SCT group as well as making critical go/no-go decisions for the Company. This role will lead one of the Company’s major platforms and projects, and present research findings to internal and external groups, along with assessing new technologies, future product candidate concepts, and instrumentation needs.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Lead a team of scientists and research associates
• Plan, design, conduct, and report on team research efforts
• Direct major projects and monitor outcomes, develop and implement modifications, write reports, and prepare/deliver presentations
• Support patent development efforts from innovation disclosures to applications
• Research, plan, and direct the experimental work performed by the SCT team or others
• Design and troubleshoot complex experiments using extensive knowledge and expertise in specialized field of study
• Review, analyze, and interpret experimental results
• Work across functional groups to implement multiple efforts focused on generation of new therapeutics/technologies within strict timelines, including working closely with the process development team to ensure transition from research to clinical scales
• Supervise and oversee maintenance and acquisition of lab instruments
• Determine clear “go/no-go” criteria based on balance of risk versus reward
• Bring new ideas forward for implementation into product or technology development
• Provide guidance to direct reports and collaborating staff on technical issues

Candidate must have the following qualifications:

• PhD with >8 years of industry or other experience after postdoc; potentially MS or BS with significant knowledge and experience
• Recognized as scientific and team leader having presented at national/international meetings and/or to external parties on a broad array of topics
• Directed a team focused on the discovery and development of cell therapies for clinical application
• Demonstrated knowledge of complex concepts gained through advanced education or experience
• Contributed significantly to publications, patents, and presentations and has been first or last author on publications
• Organized and effective communicator
• Experience with iPSC platform and their differentiation into immune cells is a plus
