We are seeking a subject matter expert in single cell RNA-Sequencing (scRNA-Seq) and related technologies to establish and run a core transcriptomics lab.  In this newly created role, you will make a significant impact on the development of cell therapies by establishing the platform for transcriptomic profiling across multiple projects and functional teams at Caribou.  You will bring a collaborative spirit in addition to hands-on experience both performing scRNA-Seq experiments and analyzing the results in the context of other functional and genomic attributes. As part of Caribou's computational biology team, you will ensure that transcriptomic data enhances the characterization of our engineered cell products at all stages of the development process. In addition, you will own the laboratory systems and procedures required to produce consistently high-quality results. This includes preparing samples, performing actual scRNA-Seq experiments, coordinating with our NGS team, developing SOPs, training and nurturing other scientists and RAs, and maintaining relevant instrumentation.   

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

• Take lead in deploying in-house single-cell RNA sequencing capabilities at Caribou.  
• Serve as the primary point of contact for scRNA-Seq and related technologies (e.g. single cell immune profiling, chromatin accessibility, etc.)
• Work closely with Caribou project and functional teams to tailor the assay and analysis for specific use cases
• Ensure consistency and reproducibility of transcriptomic profiles over time to support longitudinal characterization of engineered cell products
• Work closely with Caribou NGS sequencing team
• Develop key documentation including SOPs and training plans
• Train other scientists and RAs to run single cell experiments   

 

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Genomics, Informatics, or related fields
• Extensive experience with single cell RNA sequencing and traditional molecular and cell biology skills such as: cell culture, cloning, PCR, library construction, flow cytometry
• Informatics domain knowledge
• Deep understanding of the scRNA-Seq assay, relevant analytical approaches, and key applications

     

Nice-to-have (but not required)

• Demonstrated proficiency coding in Python, NumPy/SciPy, R, Tableau, and/or JavaScript to support efficient analytical pipelines, statistical analyses, and visualizations

• Experience with NGS sequencing, Nextera library preparation, and related technologies
• Experience with source code control and software development best practices
• Post-doctoral research experience in immuno-oncology or immunology
