We are seeking a Senior Director / Executive Director of Investor Relations & Corporate Communications.  Reporting to the CFO, this newly created position will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership of investor relations, media relations, and corporate communications.  This person will work closely with the executive leadership team to proactively define and execute an effective IR and communications strategy, establish external communications across multiple platforms, elevate Caribou’s external profile, and enhance the company’s investor base. 

The ideal candidate will have worked in a clinical biotech organization and have significant expertise managing the IR and corporate communications functions.  They will be proactive, diligent, and organized and should possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership in developing and executing an investor relations and external communications strategy that represents the Company’s competitive position, platform value, and powerful scientific foundation
• Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with key business stakeholders to understand key business drivers, milestones, and events in order to proactively coordinate appropriate external communications
• Be a primary point of contact to establish and strengthen relationships with analysts, investors, media, and public relations stakeholders
• Proactively seek opportunities to improve investor relations and corporate communications and strive for continuous improvement of corporate messaging and corporate materials
• Hire and manage necessary external service providers such as PR firms, IR consultants, website designers, and communication consultants
• Lead the planning and execution of investor events and partner closely with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure accurate, up-to-date, and professional materials are delivered for external reporting, investor meetings, events, and conferences
• Monitor and assess market and sector dynamics, investment research on Caribou and our peers; provide data and market insights to the team
• Routinely prepare and communicate IR and communications updates to Caribou’s executive leadership team and board of directors
• Develop brand/image and ensure consistent messaging, internal and external, for conference presentations/posters, job postings, community events, etc.
• Other duties as assigned
• Travel of up to 25% (post-Covid expectation)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in the life sciences preferred
• Advanced degree (MBA, CFA, MSc, PhD, MD, or similar) a plus
• 8+ years of investor relations experience in the biotech or pharma industry
• Exceptional written and verbal communications, including excellent presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well and influence others
• Highly articulate, creative, and persuasive communicator who can act as a thought partner to the CEO and CFO
• Ability to understand and effectively position scientific/clinical data, business activity, and financial information
• Established relationships and credibility with investors and analysts in the biotech industry
• Strong work ethic, self-starter, and able to succeed in a fast paced and dynamic environment
• Able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple objectives under dynamic timelines
• Personal attributes: team player, talent for networking, driven, curious, strategic thinker, effective problem solver, analytical, knowledge of underlying technology, business acumen
