We are seeking a Research Associate to join our Molecular Engineering group. The ideal candidate will interact closely with Scientists and other RAs to support DNA cloning and other molecular biology based workflows as well as provide general lab operations support.

 The main duties and responsibilities are to:

  • Design and execute DNA cloning using a variety of techniques including PCR, restriction/ligation, LIC, SLIC, Gibson, and Golden Gate
  • Prepare plasmid DNA clones, purified DNA, RNA, and lab reagents within quality guidelines
  • Maintain an organized notebook and compile data to support technical reports and presentations
  • Maintain plasmid DNA archives and create additional archival systems for reagent and strain storage
  • Assist in preparing media
  • Assist in lab organization including glassware washing and sterilization

Candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences or AA/AS with equivalent experience
  • Familiarity working in a laboratory setting working in a biotech company or academic environment
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience working in a biotech company or academic environment with a focus on DNA cloning
  • Basic understanding of the methodologies listed above
  • Computer skills, specifically with spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience using DNA cloning software
  • Microbial genetics experience
  • Protein engineering experience
  • Library screening experience
  • CRISPR-Cas9 based recombineering experience
  • Familiarity with liquid handling robots
