We are seeking a protein biochemistry intern to join our Technology Development group in Berkeley. This individual will interact closely with Caribou Scientists and Research Associates to engineer novel CRISPR-based tools for therapeutic genome editing. The intern will execute an independent project with assistance in design and implementation from other team members. During the internship, you will work in our labs, analyze data, and communicate progress on your project in team, department, and company meetings. This internship is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting edge product development while working in a highly dynamic, interdisciplinary and fun team environment.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate student (pursuing MS or PhD) with a background in Biochemistry, Structural Biology or equivalent in Biological Sciences. Senior undergraduate students will also be considered. Candidates with strong skills in protein purification of challenging proteins by FPLC are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in cloning, PCR, molecular biology, and/or assay development is highly desirable. Some experience with biophysical methods (FP) and/or CRISPR technologies is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented with lab work and documentation. This internship will start in the Summer of 2020 for three (3) to six (6) months.
