We are seeking a hands-on Manager of In Vivo Pharmacology to join our team at a site in the East Bay. The ideal candidate will interact closely with Scientists and Research Associates to drive discovery and development of new therapeutics. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the facility and leading a team to conduct critical in vivo efficacy studies
  • Assuring compliance with protocols and SOPs; coordinating all interactions with IACUC for protocols, amendments, audits, and reporting
  • Training team members on required research procedures, including restraint, handling, surgery, anesthesia, injection (IV, IP, SC, and PO), and blood draw (RO bleed and cardiac puncture)
  • Designing, conducting, and interpreting preclinical efficacy studies
  • Developing and optimizing in vivo tumor models; performing and troubleshooting in vivo studies
  • Coordinating experiments with other Scientists and RAs across functional groups, collect, analyze, interpret, and report data, and stay current on relevant primary literature

Candidate must possess: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Animal Science, Cell biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering
  • 8+ years of experience working in research operations, preferably in pharma or biotech
  • Strong scientific training and laboratory skills in immunology, immuno-oncology, and oncology
  • AALAS certification a plus
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and training others
  • Demonstrated proficiency with in vivo efficacy models
  • Hands-on experience with tumor cell inoculation, dosing via multiple routes, tissue collection, tumor measurements, and data recording
  • Experience with immune-compromised models and sterile handling techniques
  • Practical experience with cell culture, intravenous tail-vein injections, in vivo imaging techniques
  • Able to follow protocols and SOPs and execute multiple simultaneous tasks independently
  • Experience in managing, mentoring, and training others in all required research procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team, ability to manage internal and external resources and collaborations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as to collaborate with peers and work effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work weekends as required
