We are seeking a versatile full stack software engineer with a passion for applying technology to biology, to make an impact in developing our revolutionary genome engineering technologies. In this customer-facing position, you will enable transformational science by collaborating with a team of world-class scientists to build custom tools to organize and analyze biological data. We have many opportunities for you to grow in this role including taking on technical leadership responsibilities for complex in-house software applications and systems. Leveraging your knowledge of best practices in software development will help Caribou create a robust, maintainable infrastructure.  

 

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with scientific project teams to understand their needs and build systems that support data science and statistics. 
• Communicate with senior programmers on how to best run code and determine actions items.
• Develop and implement high quality code using multiple tools to organize and extract data, and to analyze trends.
• Build infrastructure for software to leverage data from genomic and cellular analysis platforms.
• Other projects as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or physics with demonstrated programming proficiency (Python, JavaScript and/or C)
• Experience coding as a key contributor in a larger team effort
• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment

 

Nice-to-have (but not required)

• Background in biology and computer science
• Previous exposure to modern genomics, high-throughput sequencing, and/or molecular biology is highly desirable
• Experience developing full stack web applications using Flask or similar
• Experience with local and/or cloud-based HPC environments  
• Knowledge of analytical and visualization software packages such as R, NumPy/SciPy, and D3js
• Experience with database integration, maintenance, and optimization
