Overview:

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our Molecular Engineering group. This role involves providing protein chemistry support to our preclinical programs by playing a key role in advancing our technology platform, developing new biochemical assays, developing purification strategies, and expanding our technological capabilities. You may take on independent projects borne out of collaboration with Scientists and Research Associates across the company. 

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain FPLC systems
  • Perform protein production, including bacterial expression and purification
  • Analyze purified proteins by methods including biochemical assays and SDS-PAGE
  • Prepare documentation, maintain records, and develop internal quality assurance systems
  • Design and optimize protein expression and purification strategies at a small scale, then scale-up processes as needed
  • Develop new assays and technological capabilities

 

You should possess the following:

  • An inquisitive approach to science, a positive attitude, and a desire to work collaboratively with colleagues of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds
  • B.Sc. or equivalent in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  • Experience in the biotech industry or in an academic, research, or manufacturing laboratory
  • Experience with recombinant protein purification, and chromatography using FPLC systems
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

 

Experience in any of these areas is a plus:

  • Bacterial, mammalian, or yeast-based protein expression systems
  • Use of bioreactors for protein expression
  • An understanding of analytical approaches for protein characterization
  • Experience working in a cGMP environment
  • Protein engineering or enzymology
  • M.Sc. or equivalent in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology or a related field
